The Cursillo Weekend
A Cursillo Weekend is held over three days, usually Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. It's led by a team of lay people and clergy and explores what it means to be a witness and follower of Christ in our life today.
TIMETABLE
We begin at tea time on Friday evening. There is time to settle in and to meet others who will be sharing the weekend with you - some will be there as fellow pilgrims (participants); others are members of the team that will be serving you. (All members of the team have previously been pilgrims themselves and will have been working and praying together for some time in preparation for your weekend). You will soon discover that the age range of the people is wide and that we come from a broad variety of backgrounds which all helps to enrich the experience. Following the Friday evening meal (the food is excellent and you won't have to do any cooking or washing up all weekend!) our leader for the weekend will introduce the team and explain more about what will be happening. We can't promise that every single aspect of a Cursillo weekend will be just right for you but many people have found the experience to be a highly significant moment in their lives. Most pilgrims have a renewed experience of God's love. For some, the weekend is a point of healing; for others it is a point at which important life decisions are made. We simply ask you to be open to God's agenda so that you can receive from Him.
AFTER THE WEEKEND
Cursillo offers to Christians and to the Church a support and encouragement structure based upon regular meetings in churches around the Diocese. There will also be an opportunity to join a small group in your locality. Cursillo seeks to encourage and support Christians in discipleship and mission in their parish and home environment.

We hope very much that you will join us on a Cursillo weekend soon. Whether you do or not, may God bless you richly.

Cursillista Pauline Barnett says:
A friend in my house group had just made her Cursillo weekend and she persuaded me to go. I was apprehensive but felt drawn by God and went to Launde Abbey in July 1988 on Cursillo #11 and was truly blessed.
I had recently lost my husband and was struggling. Love and prayer enfolded me during the weekend. God gently led me forward with a new confidence and a deeper relationship with Him. There were twenty four of us on the weekend, tears were shed, we laughed, and we had fun - a great weekend.
I have been privileged to staff on four further weekends over several years, meeting up with lovely people who have been God-given, and have influenced and blessed me on my Christian journey.
Why not try a Cursillo weekend - our God is a God of surprises, you will be surrounded with prayer and love - take the risk and be blessed!
Cursillista Revd Jan Dewhirst says:
In the late 1980’s, after being confirmed at my local church, I was approached by a friend who said that I really think you would enjoy going on a Cursillo weekend.
When I agreed lots of folk from the same church kept coming up to me and saying that it was so special for me to be going and I was told it would be a very relaxed and friendly weekend and I could take my knitting and a good book!!
So on a late November evening the curate and three women set off to Launde Abbey. When we arrived the welcome was amazing and the friends who had invited me were on the team so at least I knew a few people. The weekend was #15 there were 24 pilgrims and it was very busy, not as laid back as you would think. The knitting never got touched and the book never read but God worked very hard and I met some amazing people who were to walk with me for a long time!
Over the years I have staffed on a number of weekends and have been blessed in that I have been able to serve as staff in almost every role.
Should you be asked by someone if you think you would like to go on a Cursillo weekend, just ask yourself, am I ready to be challenged, to be loved, to hear God speak in new and different ways?
Are you ready to look with different eyes at the One who loves and leads you?
If your answer is maybe, possibly, then pray with your friends and if it is your time then God will take you by the hand and lead you on new and exciting paths.

Interested in booking or just want to find out more? Please see our Contact page for more information. Or maybe ask someone you know who's been on a Cursillo Weekend.
By the way so that no-one is excluded by the cost, Cursillo endeavours to be faith-funded by Cursillo members. The cost of the weekend is entirely voluntary and should not prevent you.
